the School of choice for North Durban

Cultural and Clubs

Northwood has a vibrant and varied cultural programme. Our annual fashion show, musical and cultural evenings are well-known in the local community, and our brass band is the only remaining one in the Durban area. Learners are encouraged to take advantage of the benefits offered by the many clubs and societies that contribute to the variety of school life. All activities are run by schoolboy committees assisted by mentors, and they provide an excellent opportunity for learners to develop life skills and leadership abilities that will be invaluable in their future careers. The following societies play a major role in the development of the whole person, which is the hallmark of a Northwood education.

Brass Band Chess Club
Computer Club Debating Society
Dramatic Society Durban Youth Council
Environmental Club First Aid
Hindu Students Association Interact Club
Junior Achievement Business Games
Muslim Students Association Press Club
Toastmasters Science Olympiad Group
Tech Team Students Christian Association

We also offer a number of opportunities for our boys to serve their community through service organisations, and we hope this will instil in them a lifelong habit of giving back to others less privileged than themselves. The importance of this cannot be over-emphasized in our vision of producing young men who will make a valuable contribution to the society in which they live.
