the School of choice for North Durban

MIC:  Mr G Le Roux

Cycling was introduced to the Extra-Curricular program in 2012. It offers learners the opportunity to visit and ride all over the country. Since its introduction, Northwood has done extremely well. Some of the achievements over the past few years include winning the KZN Spur Schools MTB Series in 2012 and 2013 as well as winning the Inter School Eliminator Series (ISES) in KZN in 2014 and 2015.

A number of fantastic individual performances show the amount of talent in the team. This includes the incredible achievement of Cayde Muldoon winning the Mens 60km Amashova in 2013 and 2014 as well as his achievement of being awarded KZN colours in 2015 for Road Cycling. Ben Carnie and Cayde Muldoon have regularly featured representing KZN in tours across the country. Both of these young men have also been selected to represent the Kargo High School Mountain Bike Team, a fantastic achievement at this level. The entire Northwood Cycling Team has shown a tremendous amount of dedication and persistence throughout the seasons with more and more boys waking up to watch the sunrise over the ocean while cycling through Durban.

All riders require a mountain bike as the School Series’ are MTB races, but many boys also compete in the Provincial Road Cycling Championships as well as numerous other road events.
